MicroKinetics power supplies are specifically designed to handle the high surge current requirements of stepper motor controls. Typically, it is better to use one small power supply per axis than a large power supply that has the capacity for all motors. This eliminates electrical noise in one motor circuit from feeding back into the other motors.

To select an appropriate power supply, check the voltage range limits of the driver and choose a power supply with a voltage that is within the voltage range of the driver and whose current output is at least 1/2 that of the motor current rating. A power supply wih a voltage output that is near the maximum voltage rating of the driver will provide improved torque at high motor speeds. See the motor torque curves in the motor section to get an idea of how much effect this has on motor torque output.
